Matt Ceccato was born and raised in Sacramento, attended local public schools, rode RT, and utilized our local parks and rivers. He has seen the boom of certain neighborhoods, while others have struggled. Sadly, Sacramento richest and poorest census tracks are less than a mile apart in the Arden Arcade area. He is running with a determined eye to closing these disparities, focused on equalizing opportunity.
Matt is a combat wounded Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He currently serves as the District Director for Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. in Sacramento County. After suffering a gunshot wound to his legs on his second combat tour, he was medically retired from the Army in 2007. Through the GI Bill, Matt was afforded the opportunity to obtain a B.A. from CSU Sacramento and M.A. from Pennsylvania State University. After graduate school, he returned to home and began as a Wounded Warrior Fellow in Congressman Bera’s district office.
His time in a congressional district office has provided the conduit to continue helping veterans and serve the community. As a veteran caseworker, he has helped secure over $1.5 million in due benefits for constituents, as well as the restoration of countless education, housing, and other benefits. His service to Sacramento County veterans involves coordination with the California National Guard, Department of Defense and numerous non-profits. As a volunteer with Sacramento Stand Down, Citrus Heights Veteran Center, Veterans Democratic Club of Sacramento County, and the Community Veterans Engagement Board, he is proud of his roll in bridging the gap between local providers and the federal government.
Matt Ceccato has the record of service, dedication to community, and passion to shake the status quo and deliver for our families. As a lifelong Sacramentan and dedicated public servant, he will fight for our vulnerable and help deliver the promise of Sacramento to every corner of our county.
